Dr. Parr received his BS in Biology and MS in Human Nutrition at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He graduated from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1980. He completed both a one year general practice residency and a two year general dentistry residency while on active duty in the army. He was the first army dentist to be boarded in operative dentistry, a board of excellence. His is also a diplomate of the Federal Services Reserve Board of General Dentistry and a diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry. His extensive pursuit of continuing education in dentistry earned him Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry.
Transferring from active duty to the reserves, Lieutenant Colonel Parr began the private practice of dentistry in Culpeper, Virginia, in 1990. He performs cosmetic and restorative dentistry, endodontics (root canals), periodontics (gum treatment), prosthodontics (crowns, bridges and dentures), oral surgery, implants, and pedodontics (children’s dentistry). He is listed in The Best Dentists in America (a book based on evaluations by other dentists) and in Global Register’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals. He loves both the art and the science of dentistry, and is committed to a conservative outlook and excellence in every aspect of his practice. This passion for delivering exceptional dentistry is evidenced in his membership in the Spear Study Club, a group of general dentists and specialists who meet to learn and study complex dental cases; the group is joined by invitation upon recommendation by other top dental professionals.
Dr. Parr has been voted by other dentists as a Top Dentist in Virginia every year since 2010. He has been voted Best in Culpeper and/or Best of the Best in Culpeper by the people of Culpeper each year since 2013.
In his spare time Dr. Parr enjoys music, woodworking and metalworking.
